ABOUT US
About Us
Innovation, fiduciary expertise and a rich history go hand in hand at Perpetual Guardian, New Zealand’s premier provider of the full suite of estate planning services.
Whether it is through Wills, Trusts, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Investment Advisory or Philanthropic ventures, we’re committed to growing and preserving the wealth and legacy of our clients.
For over 135 years we’ve been in the business of providing estate planning options for New Zealanders.
Today, Perpetual Guardian has offices nationwide, with over 125,000 client relationships and administering or supervising assets valued over $4 billion. We also stand as New Zealand’s largest Trustee for Charitable Trusts – supporting clients in their familial, financial and philanthropic goals.
Throughout the years we’ve stayed true to our mission: To ensure the people and things that matter to our clients are protected, grown and quite simply, taken care of.
How it all began
Perpetual Guardian represents the history of South British Guardian Trust and NZI Trust Department (which became Guardian Trust) and Pyne Gould Guinness Trust Department and AMP Perpetual Trust (which became Perpetual Trust). The heritage of these organisations as trustee and fiduciary dates back to 1882.
Andrew Barnes acquired Perpetual Trust in 2013 and Guardian Trust in 2014. These combined entities are now owned by Perpetual Guardian Holdings. While the companies have come together, they represent two separate private Acts of Parliament – the New Zealand Guardian Trust Company Act 1982 and the AMP Perpetual Trustee Company Act 1988.
Perpetual Guardian is the trading name of Perpetual Trust Limited, a registered statutory trustee companies pursuant to the Trustee Companies Act 1967.
Our vision for the future
We are passionate about what we do and how we do it – and that means we are always looking for ways to improve the client experience. We will continue to bring innovation to our industry by creating digital solutions and by introducing technology to our processes.
Our team at Perpetual Guardian are committed to our clients. We understand the sensitive nature of discussing estate planning needs and we know that to do to this we must develop relationships built on clear communication, quality service, respect and integrity. It is a responsibility the team take very seriously and we will continue to uphold those values into the future.
