New Zealand’s trusted service for ageing well, Age Concern New Zealand, is receiving a New Year boost after inking an agreement with Perpetual Guardian to have the nation’s largest and most dominant trustee services company as the platinum sponsor of Age Concern New Zealand and the New Zealand Association of Gerontology’s high-profile conference.
The Vision for Ageing in Aotearoa conference will be held at Te Papa on 6 and 7 April 2020 and features an impressive panoply of speakers and experts on subjects ranging from health and palliative care to digital inclusion and safe housing design and modification for ageing Kiwis.
In addition to the platinum sponsorship of the 2020 conference, Perpetual Guardian has agreed on a three-year partnership with Age Concern New Zealand to develop and expand estate planning and related services of benefit to the Age Concern community and their families.
Perpetual Guardian’s National Manager of Retail, Jennifer Tweed, says, “We are delighted to have reached this agreement to support the conference this year and to work with Age Concern New Zealand closely over a longer-term.
We greatly respect the important work Age Concern does at a national and community level and as an advocate for living well as we age. Over the next three years, we will be strengthening our relationships across our 16 regional branches so we can ensure we are fully supporting Age Concern’s members with our services.
“New Zealanders who are looking to a thriving later life have always been a valued and important part of our client base due to the nature of our work in comprehensive estate planning and making sure the things that matter to our clients are protected, grown and well cared for – and we will be working closely with Age Concern New Zealand and its members to provide everything they need from us in terms of Family and Charitable Trusts, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and other support services and advice.”
Stephanie Clare, Chief executive at Age Concern New Zealand, says the organisation’s previous work with Perpetual Guardian has informed the new sponsorship. “Perpetual Guardian has a trusted relationship with us and also works closely with a number of our offices.
“As our Platinum conference sponsor and new partner Perpetual Guardian will be invited to meet Age Concern Managers, Staff and Governance member for a 90-minute dedicated partnership workshop, so we can all discuss the opportunities and how we can collaborate to help the communities throughout New Zealand.
“We are all ageing and have an interest in creating a society that respects, values and celebrates the contribution of all older New Zealanders. By 2036 it is anticipated that one in four people will be 65 years of age or older.
“We have a multitude of services such as our volunteer visiting service, elder abuse and neglect prevention services and health promotion services. Our role is to present people with a range of choices and support them in their decisions.
“By investing now in solutions that support the transition to an ageing society, we can make sure people still have purpose and value as they age, have choices and are not isolated.
